FAQ - Why does my account say that I have been charged £1?

This article is now archived. Please visit the £1/$1 account charges article on CommunityPlus for an updated version.

Here at Serif we do a £1 pre authorisation when you place an order.

This pre-authorisation is to check the account is valid, and is a procedure used by most mail order and telephone order companies as standard.

The day your order is despatched you will be debited the full amount for your order and the £1 authorisation will drop back into your card.

Some credit or debit cards may show Serif has reserved the full amount on your internet banking statement or when you use the ATM machines.

This will depend on particular types of credit and debit cards and also how your bank processes certain transactions.
