How to activate my hosting

Serif web hosting provides Serif-supplied web space for the user to publish to. By signing up to the hosting service you can simplify web publishing with the option of upgrading your web hosting capabilities over time.

 A range of web hosting packages are available, each offering increasing levels of service. See www.serif.com/hosting for details.

 To find out how to activate hosting, you can:

To activate web hosting (for WebPlus X6):
  1. Click the Publish Site button on the Standard toolbar.
    OR
    From the File menu, click Publish Site>Publish to Web.
  2. From the dialog, click Activate Now.*
  3. You'll be taken to www.serif.com. Click Set up a new hosting account.
  4. Enter your serif.com email address.
    New serif.com user? Simply fill out the contact details.
    Existing user? You'll be asked to login with a valid password.
    Note: Serif web hosting requires that you have a working www.serif.com login. If you're not already a registered user you must create an account first.
    Click Continue.
  5. Check your email for the account activation message which will have been sent to you. Click the activation link. 
  6. For a new WebPlus hosting account, fill out the form details, including your hosting password and domain prefix. Pay special attention to the domain prefix, as this makes up part of your web address. For example, <mysite>.webplus.net, where <mysite> is your chosen domain prefix.
  7. From the next screen, select a panel offering your preferred hosting package.
  8. (Optional) Click Select.
  9. If you have a hosting voucher, input its voucher code, then click Apply for validation.
  10. Choose a payment option for the package by clicking the adjacent button.
  11. Click Continue to payment.
  12. Enter you payment details, then click Continue.
  13. From the final screen, print out (or keep a record of) your hosting FTP account details. You'll need to keep these details safe, as well as transfer the account details into WebPlus via copy and paste.

Transferring your account details:

WebPlus will check if you have no hosting account details set up in the program. If none are present, you'll be prompted to add account details via a pop-up dialog.

  1. In WebPlus, click Publish site on the Standard toolbar.
  2. From the pop-up dialog, in the Use existing hosting & domain name box, select Add Details.

  3. In the Account Details dialog, transfer, by copy and paste, your web hosting account details (created on serif.com previously) into equivalent fields.

  4. Click OK.
  5. In the subsequent Upload to server dialog, click Test to check that your added details are valid. If a connection isn't established successfully, review your hosting account details and your Internet connection, then retry.

To activate web hosting (for WebPlus X5/Starter Edition):

  1. Click the Publish Site button on the Standard toolbar. OR
    From the File menu, click Publish Site>Publish to Web.
  2. Click Setup Hosting to access serif.com and set up hosting as described above.
  3. In WebPlus's open Publish to Web dialog, click Accounts.
  4. In the Account Details dialog, transfer, by copy and paste, your web hosting account details (created on serif.com previously) into equivalent fields.
  5. Click OK.
