Applies to: WebPlus
Problem: When installing or patching WebPlus, you see the error 'Could not write value ThreadingModel to key' or 'Could not create key', followed by the name of a registry key.
This problem is caused by your install of Adobe Flash Player which has prevented WebPlus from writing some new entries to the registry.
Resolutions:
Installing -
If you see this error when installing a WebPlus CD or download, you can click the Ignore button on the message to dismiss it. There are several registry keys that can be affected and you will need to press Ignore for each one, so continue to press Ignore until the error messages stop
Patching -
If you see this error when applying a patch to WebPlus, you can press Ignore as above for a short term solution.
As a long-term solution to stop this happening again for future patches, you can follow the instructions below for your version of Windows.
Windows XP
- From the Start Menu, choose Control Panel
- In Control Panel, choose "Add or Remove Programs"
- Click on WebPlus in the list
- Press the Change button
- When the on-screen instructions appear, choose Modify
- When you see the Setup Options screen, click the button to the left of the Macromedia Flash Player option and choose "Entire feature will be unavailable"
- Click Next, then Install to accept the modification
- Press Finish once the install has completed
- Apply the latest patch again
Windows Vista
- From the Start Menu, choose Control Panel
- In Control Panel Home view, choose "Uninstall a program" from the Programs section
or
In Classic View, choose "Programs and Features"
- Click on your Serif product in the list
- Press the Change button on the top toolbar
- When the on-screen instructions appear, choose Modify
- When you see the Setup Options screen, click the button to the left
of the Macromedia Flash Player option and choose "Entire feature will be
unavailable"
- Click Next, then Install to accept the modification
- Press Finish once the install has completed
- Apply the latest patch again
Windows 7
- From the Start Menu, choose Control Panel
- In Category view, choose "Uninstall a program" from the
Programs section
or
In Large/Small Icons view, choose "Programs and Features"
- Click on your Serif product in the list
- Press the Change button on the top toolbar
- When the on-screen instructions appear, choose Modify
- When you see the Setup Options screen, click the button to the left

- Click Next, then Install to accept the modification
