Troubleshooting - MoviePlus X3 crashes when I go to the Advanced settings for QuickTime (.mov) export

Serif Software > MoviePlus > MoviePlus X3
Applies to: MoviePlus X3

Problem: When exporting to QuickTime (.mov) file, clicking the Customize button on the Export Settings dialog and then clicking the Audio Details tab on the Edit Export Template dialog causes MoviePlus to crash.

Resolution 1: This problem has been caused by the latest update to QuickTime (7.6.5) so to resolve the crash for now, you should install an older version of QuickTime.

Uninstall your current version of QuickTime by following these instructions:

Windows XP

  1. From the Start Menu, choose Control Panel
  2. In Control Panel, choose "Add or Remove Programs"
  3. Click on QuickTime in the list
  4. Press the Remove button
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall QuickTime

Windows Vista
  1. From the Start Menu, choose Control Panel
  2. In Control Panel Home view, choose "Uninstall a program" from the Programs section
    or
In Classic View, choose "Programs and Features"
  3. Click on QuickTime in the list
  4. Press the Uninstall button on the top toolbar
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall QuickTime

Windows 7
  1. From the Start Menu, choose Control Panel
  2. In Category view, choose "Uninstall a program" from the Programs section
    or
In Large/Small Icons view, choose "Programs and Features"
  3. Click on QuickTime in the list
  4. Press the Uninstall button on the top toolbar
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall QuickTime

To install an older version of QuickTime (7.60.92.0), follow these instructions:
  1. Download QuickTime 7.6 from Apple's website:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL762
  2. When QuickTimeInstaller.exe has downloaded, double-click it to run it
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install QuickTime
Resolution 2: We hope to resolve this crash in a future patch for MoviePlus X3, if so the patch will be announced on the Serif forums.
