How To - Draw an unfilled shape

Serif Software > PhotoPlus
Applies to: All versions of PhotoPlus, except where stated

There are two easy methods available in PhotoPlus that allow you to draw a shape with no fill. These examples show how to create a rectangle with no fill, but the same techniques can be applied to any shape that you can create using either a selection or a path.

Method 1: Outline a selection (Applies to versions X3 and above)
  1. From the Tools toolbar, choose the Rectangle Selection tool
  2. Click and drag to create a selection of the size and position required for the resulting shape
  3. From the Edit menu, choose Outline
  4. Set a width and colour for the line you want to draw
  5. Choose whether to draw the outline aligned to the outside, inside or centre of the selection
  6. Press OK
Method 2: Stroke a path
  1. Make sure the Paths tab is visible in the Studio (go to Window > Studio Tabs and if there is not a check mark next to Paths Tab, click it to enable the tab)
  2. From the Tools toolbar, choose the Rectangle shape tool
  3. On the Context toolbar, select Paths
  4. Click and drag to create a path of the size and position required for the resulting shape
  5. From the Tools toolbar, choose the Paintbrush tool
  6. From the Brush Tip tab, choose the brush you would like to use for the line. Fine tune any brush settings required on the Context toolbar
  7. From the Colour tab, choose the colour you would like the line to be
  8. On the Paths tab, click Stroke Path
